Toiya Allen wants scholars to grow academically, socially, and emotionally in an environment that is stimulating and adaptive to their diverse needs. She firmly believes in preparing scholars for higher education and citizenship in society. She loves working with scholars and staff to help each reach their academic and personal goals. Ms. Allen believes in the importance of having a growth mindset to overcome challenges and develop your abilities further. One of her passions is analyzing data with teachers and helping them use it to drive instruction. It's rewarding to see the results of teachers and scholars and help them reach their academic goals through goal-setting. Ms. Allen loves to learn and truly believes in creating an environment of lifelong learners. She pushes herself to learn new strategies and practices that can be shared with staff and colleagues. Ms. Allen received her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton. She comes from a business and education background, as her father owned his own real estate business, and her mother was a classroom teacher. She is passionate about both fields and decided to pursue a degree in both. After obtaining a business degree, she got a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Masters in Education at Azusa Pacific University. She began her career as a classroom teacher after receiving her teaching credential. Her first teaching job was at a charter school in Hawthorne. After commuting for a few years, she decided to find a charter school closer to home. Ms. Allen began teaching at a charter school in San Bernardino, where she taught 2nd grade for two years before entering the administrative services credential program. Ms. Allen is now in her 10th year of administration and loves working as an administrator because she can use her leadership skills to help serve scholars and teachers/staff. Ms. Allen loves REACH because it's a fun and collaborative environment that meets the needs of all scholars. Everyone is committed to serving the scholars at REACH and willing to work to meet our goals. She currently has one son, and he is the love of her life. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and doing anything adventurous.
